Leeuwenpoort start in februari 2023 met de pilot voor een postacademische opleiding voor kunst en wetenschap.
De aanmeldingsperiode van de pilot loopt vanaf 15 december 2022 en sluit op 15 januari 2023. Er is plaats voor tien deelnemers aan het programma van Leeuwenpoort.
Doel Leeuwenpoort
Het doel van Leeuwenpoort is om professionals vanuit de kunst- en cultuursector met (inter)nationaal gerenommeerd kunstenaars en wetenschappers en partnerorganisaties in Zeeland samen te laten werken aan betekenisvolle innovatie in relatie tot actuele maatschappelijke vraagstukken. Het vertrekpunt van deze samenwerking is de artistieke en autonome visie en de ontwikkeling van de kunstenaar.
Artist in residence locaties Zeeland
Leeuwenpoort betreft de eerste professionele kunstopleiding in Zeeland. De kleine afstanden en een grote verscheidenheid binnen de Zeeuwse regio’s prikkelt de zintuigen en de nieuwsgierigheid. Daarnaast biedt Zeeland de ruimte om te experimenteren met werk dat daaruit voortvloeit. Vanwege deze factoren is er gekozen om Leeuwenpoort vanuit drie verschillende Artist in Residentie locaties te starten. Deze drie locaties zijn: Terneuzen (Zeeuws-Vlaanderen), Middelburg (Walcheren) en Ellemeet (Schouwen-Duiveland).
Programma
Het programma van Leeuwenpoort is erop gericht om vanuit het autonome gedachtengoed van de kunstenaar een verdiepende samenwerking op te zoeken met de wetenschap, gericht op een innovatieve aanpak van urgente en duurzame thema’s, zoals klimaatverandering, het slavernijverleden en de doorwerking ervan in het heden, vrede en vrijheid maar ook onderwaterarcheologie in Zeeland, industrie en wetenschap.
Creativiteit, als hoogste vorm van out-of-the-box denken, is nodig voor de uitdagingen waar we als samenleving mee geconfronteerd worden. Kunstenaars, in samenwerking met wetenschappers en werkveld partners, bieden een unieke bijdrage aan innovatie vanuit hun authentieke visie. Naast het economische belang van autonome kunst ontwikkeld de kunstenaar in dit project ook betekenisvolle relaties tussen het eigen werk en de context, dat vergroot de maatschappelijke en economische waarde. Op verschillende momenten in het jaar is er een publieksprogramma, zoals open ateliers, exposities, presentaties, performances, lezingen in musea of een andere openbare ruimtes.

Leeuwenpoort is the first professional art education in Zeeland. The small distances and great diversity within the regions of Zeeland stimulate the senses and curiosity. In addition, Zeeland offers the space to experiment with the resulting work. Because of these factors, it was decided to start Leeuwenpoort from three different Artist in Residence locations. Program
Leeuwenpoort’s program is aimed at seeking an in-depth collaboration with science based on the artist’s autonomous ideas, aimed at an innovative approach to urgent and sustainable themes, such as climate change, the history of slavery and its impact on the present, peace and freedom, but also underwater archeology in Zeeland, industry and science.
Creativity, as the highest form of out-of-the-box thinking, is necessary for the challenges we face as a society. Artists, in collaboration with scientists and professional field partners, offer a unique contribution to innovation based on their authentic vision. In addition to the economic importance of autonomous art, the artist in this project also develops meaningful relationships between his own work and the context, which increases the social and economic value. There is a public program at various times during the year, such as open studios, exhibitions, presentations, performances, lectures in museums or other public spaces.
